An Urban Center of Influence (UCI) is a term used to describe a location, usually a city or metropolitan area, that has a significant impact on the surrounding region in terms of economic, social, and cultural development. It is a place where resources, ideas, and people come together to drive innovation, entrepreneurship, progress, and mutual assistance. UCIs are also known for their diverse and vibrant communities, which attract people from all over the world and promote cultural exchange and social integration.

In addition, an Urban Center of Influence (UCI) is a place for relaxation and creating bonds between community members. In fact, many UCIs provide various services and programs that promote well-being and social interaction among individuals and groups. For example, some UCIs have community centers, cafes, and outdoor spaces where people can gather, relax, and engage in activities such as games, arts, and sports. Additionally, many UCIs offer educational programs, language classes, and workshops that encourage learning, personal growth, and skill development. These activities not only help people to improve their physical and mental health but also foster a sense of belonging and connectedness within the community.

Historians and scholars point to ancient cities such as Athens, Rome, and Alexandria as early examples of centers of influence. These urban centers were renowned for their robust cultural and intellectual dynamism, alongside their significant economic and political prowess, enabling them to wield considerable influence over their respective localities and even extend their reach further afield.

Today, there are more than 100 branches of UCIs around the world. Cities such as London, New York, and Tokyo have been considered global centers of influence due to their dominant positions in finance, media, technology, and culture.

Within the Adventist cycle, there are several institutions and entities that can be considered centers of influence. These include universities and colleges, hospitals and health systems, media organizations, publishing houses, and research centers. Some notable Adventist centers of influence include Andrews University, Loma Linda University Health, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), the Adventist Review and Adventist World magazines, and the Geoscience Research Institute.

For Ubon Center is a nonprofit organization that serves similar goals to other Urban Center of Influence in other countries that prioritizes community wellness, education, and social relations in the Eastern region of Thailand. The For Ubon Center was established on July 14, 2023, in Ubon Ratchathani province, which has a longstanding history of cultural and economic exchange with Laos.

The For Ubon Center is an excellent starting point for the project, given the strategic location of Ubon Ratchathani province, with its young and educated population, robust economy, and rich cultural heritage. It is an ideal location for a center of influence that promotes education, well-being, and a sense of community among its members in the northeastern region of Thailand and beyond.

Currently, the For Ubon Center offers four primary services to the community: For Ubon Granola Sales, For Ubon Massage, For Ubon English Language Center, and For Ubon Home Visitation Program. These services cater to the wellness, education, and social needs of the community.
